UGM Alumni Gathering was held at Zuri Hotel, Palembang on Saturday (20/1). The event was attended by over 50 alumni currently residing in South Sumatra. The gathering provided a platform for alumni to discuss the intellectual role in regional development.
The Chairman of KAGAMA South Sumatra, Dr. H. Joncik Muhammad, S.Si., S.H., M.H., expressed his gratitude and pride in being part of the UGM alumni family. “We should be grateful and proud to be part of the large UGM alumni family. The prestigious name of UGM is closely linked to the achievements of its alumni; the better the alumni perform, the greater UGM’s reputation,” said Joncik.
In addition, UGM’s Vice-Rector for Human Resources and Finance, Prof. Dr. Supriyadi, M.Sc., delivered a speech praising the excellent cooperation between the regional and branch KAGAMA South Sumatra administrators in organizing the event. He also provided updates on the Innovation and Creativity Hub (GIK), which aims to activate student activities not only from UGM but also from other universities.
“UGM is committed to inclusivity by attending to all layers of the university community and providing supportive facilities for a comfortable campus experience. Additionally, UGM has formed a task force focused on addressing physical and mental health issues among students,” he explained.
The alumni gathering aimed to strengthen and foster closer relationships between alumni in South Sumatra and UGM. During the discussion session, alumni addressed strategic issues such as collaboration between alumni, cooperation in Community Service Programs (KKN), university rankings, and scholarship opportunities.
The discussion provided a space for alumni to exchange experiences, share ideas, and create valuable collaborations for regional development. It is hoped that this event will further strengthen the connection between alumni and UGM, enhancing synergy to advance South Sumatra and Indonesia as a whole.
The UGM Alumni Gathering in Bumi Sriwijaya served as a significant moment to reinforce ties and build a shared commitment to supporting regional development. May this camaraderie continue and contribute positively to the advancement of the nation.
