Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) and the Alumni Association of Universitas Gadjah Mada (KAGAMA) once again held a preparatory event for prospective graduates of the Bachelor and Applied Bachelor programs for the February 2024 period on Tuesday (20/2) at the 2nd Floor of Grha Sabha Pramana. The event was attended by 1,582 enthusiastic prospective graduates eager to gain insights and knowledge from successful alumni in their respective fields.
Dr. Arie Sujito, S.Sos., M.Si., Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, opened the event by emphasizing the significance of the upcoming graduation as a valuable milestone for the students.
“This is a meaningful moment because you have successfully completed your academic journey,” he stated.
The event featured Drs. Sumedi Andono Mulyo, M.A., Ph.D., Director of Planning & Development for Priority National Infrastructure Projects at the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas). In his speech, Drs. Sumedi highlighted the importance of networking and seeking job opportunities. He emphasized that UGM graduates must be adaptive to changes in the professional world, particularly in navigating technological and informational shifts. Drs. Sumedi also underscored the significance of respecting basic rights and understanding the risks present in the workplace. Additionally, he stressed the importance of building connections and becoming active members of the KAGAMA community.
“We must understand the facts we face, anticipate upcoming trends, comprehend the drivers of change, and develop a personal roadmap for the future,” Drs. Sumedi advised.
The preparatory event is expected to provide valuable insights for UGM’s prospective graduates, equipping them with adaptive attitudes and a broad understanding of the changes they will encounter in their careers. The event also strengthened the bond between the university and its alumni, reflecting UGM and KAGAMA’s commitment to producing high-quality graduates for a better future for Indonesia.
