The KAGAMA Bangka Belitung Province (Babel) organized a social service event called KAGAMA Care 2024 to distribute 48 packages of sembako to those in need ahead of Ramadan on Thursday (14/3). This program was launched in response to the declining economic conditions in the Babel region, with the hope that underprivileged individuals could carry out fasting peacefully.

Each food package has a value of 250,000 Indonesian rupiahs, and the recipients expressed great joy and gratitude for this assistance. The 48 food packages were distributed to several areas in Pangkal Pinang City, and the program will continue until the end of Ramadan. KAGAMA Babel Care is also accepting donations and charity to support the continuation of this program. The criteria for receiving the food packages are individuals classified as underprivileged people, such as widows, vegetable sellers, people with special needs (such as the hearing impaired), and those who are unemployed. This initiative consistently receives positive appreciation from the local community.

Previously, KAGAMA Care and KAGAMA Babel also organized blood donation drives as a form of support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Head of KAGAMA Babel, H. Warsangka, expressed the hope that this program would be sustained in the future. Although this was their first-time distributing food packages, the impact was significant. He also mentioned that this activity coincided with a previous blood donation drive, where they successfully collected 131 blood bags. Part of the funds from that event were used to support the food distribution program. Warsangka emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity in facing various challenges.

“Our hope is that this activity continues so that we can always be harmonious and supportive to others ‘migunani tumraping liyan’, “ said H. Warsangka during an interview on Tuesday (19/3).

KAGAMA Babel Care has made a meaningful contribution to the underprivileged residents of Babel. Unity and solidarity are the main key to overcome social and economic challenges. By integrating these concepts, efforts are made to holistically achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), encompassing social, health, and sustainable economic aspects. The hope is that programs like this can continue to aid those in need and foster a spirit of unity and solidarity within the community.

[1] Sembako refers to basic food packages in Indonesian. These packages typically contain essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, and other staples.
