Yogyakarta, (25/4) – The career counseling event titled “Tips for Entering the Workforce” was successfully held in Multimedia Room 1, 3rd Floor, Central Building of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). The event attracted over 60 participants and aimed to provide insights and information on job application strategies, self-assessment, navigating the Society 5.0 era, and tips and tricks for meeting industry demands.
The event began with a welcome speech by Dr. Sulistyowati, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the UGM Alumni Office. In her remarks, Dr. Sulistyowati emphasized the importance of honing skills and enhancing personal profiles in today’s rapidly advancing and innovative era.
“Collaboration between humans and between humans and technology is key in today’s workforce. Take the opportunity to explore and upgrade your profile so that your competencies and skills are visible to the industry,” advised Dr. Sulistyowati.
Following this, Amanda Yulina Putri Rahayu, S.E., Coordinator of Analysis, Counseling, and Career Guidance, representing the Director of Domestic Job Placement Development, gave a presentation. Amanda explained that increasing competence requires specific knowledge and skills, especially when entering the workforce. Key aspects of job readiness necessary to compete in the national labor market include responsibility, teamwork, initiative, communication skills, and a sense of solidarity.
“Unemployment remains a major challenge, caused by the imbalance between the number of job seekers and available job opportunities. Therefore, we must be prepared to compete in the national job market,” Amanda explained.
Ivan Chen, Founder & CEO of Anantarupa Studio Jakarta, also delivered a presentation on the “accelerate game talent” program. His presentation offered participants insights into the rapidly growing gaming industry.
“With the influx of foreign cultures into Indonesia, creating career opportunities for many, now is the time to push Indonesian culture onto the global stage through gaming,” said Ivan.
Next, Miftahun Ni’mah Suseno, S.Psi., M.A., a psychologist from HIMPSI DIY, emphasized the importance of self-awareness before presenting oneself to potential employers. She stressed that individuals must be mature and ready to adapt to the workforce.

The career counseling session aimed to ensure that today’s generation becomes highly skilled human resources, ready to fill appropriate and fitting job roles. By doing so, it is hoped that unemployment rates can be reduced, and better job opportunities provided for all individuals.
