Yogyakarta, (25/4) – The first Career Preparation Class (CPC) of the year was successfully held on Thursday (April 25) in Multimedia Room 1, 3rd Floor, Central Building of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). The event was attended by more than 80 enthusiastic participants eager to gain tips and secrets for acing CV reviews and job interviews. This CPC featured two expert speakers: Susana Nur Kusumaningsih from Human Resources Region at PT Paragon Technology and Innovation, and Renny Arfia Ratnaeni from Marketing Development at the same company.
The focus of the event was on effective CV writing and interview techniques. Participants were guided on how to craft a CV that meets the job requirements and how to approach interviews with the right techniques.
One of the tips provided for creating a CV was to use language that mirrors the job description or requirements. Additionally, it was recommended to use simple fonts, avoid the use of images, columns, and tables in the CV, and to save the document in PDF or Word format.
“A CV needs to be tailored if applying for different job positions. It should map out experiences and projects that support the application. However, if the positions applied for are similar, one CV can suffice. It’s crucial to know yourself and highlight strengths relevant to the job. Also, consider the culture of the company you’re applying to,” Susana explained.
Key elements to include in a CV are the title, introduction, educational background, work experience, skills and certifications, and additional resumes showcasing any achievements.
In the recruitment process, companies look for candidates who match the job description, fit the company culture, and possess the knowledge and skills required to perform the job tasks.
The event also covered ways to capture recruiters’ interest. Some tips shared included making a good impression, not being late for interviews, using proper body language, showing your best performance, being confident and honest, and focusing on using positive language when describing yourself. The effectiveness of your explanations is also important.
Regarding the selection process, Renny revealed, “There are no fixed standards in recruitment. It’s very subjective and depends on the company’s needs and culture. For instance, fast-paced companies tend to want responsive candidates. It also depends on the position applied for. If HR doesn’t ask follow-up questions, it means they’re not interested.”
The event also featured the Wardah Team, offering personal color analysis services. The team provided participants with information and consultations on using the right colors in their appearance to enhance a positive impression during job interviews. With this CPC event, participants are expected to improve their skills in crafting attention-grabbing CVs and approaching interviews with greater confidence and effectiveness.
