Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with the UGM Alumni Family (KAGAMA), organized an alumni gathering themed “Nurturing Brotherhood in the Spirit of Humanity and Nationalism” at Balairung UGM. The event, held on Sunday (April 28), was attended by over 200 participants online and more than 70 participants in person.
The gathering, attended by UGM alumni, also featured several prominent figures, including UGM Rector, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, and Chairman of PP KAGAMA, Ganjar Pranowo. Other notable attendees included the Secretary General of PP KAGAMA (who participated online), Vice Rectors, Deans and Vice Deans of Faculties/Schools, Senate Secretary, Chairman of Professors, KAGAMA Communities, and KAGAMA Faculties/Schools.
The event commenced with a lively performance by KAGAMA Dansa Seirama and a traditional Sajiwa dance, which set a vibrant tone for the day. Sulastama Raharja, the event’s Chairperson, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of maintaining connections and contributing to the nation. Meanwhile, Dr. Arie Sujito, S.Sos., M.Si., Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, highlighted the significance of this gathering as a moment for reconciliation and reunion among UGM alumni. He also expressed gratitude for the synergy between KAGAMA and UGM in organizing this event.
The program continued with a report on the utilization of the Gadjah Mada Peduli Scholarship, a financial aid initiative for academically outstanding but financially disadvantaged students. The report provided insights into the positive impact of this program in enhancing access to quality education.
Additionally, the event featured a Batik Tiga Negeri Fashion Show, showcasing the beauty of batik from three regions in Indonesia. The show was designed by an alumnus of the Faculty of Agriculture, and the proceeds from the batik auction were donated to scholarships for outstanding UGM students.
The UGM and KAGAMA Alumni Gathering aimed to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among alumni and increase their contributions to nation-building. Furthermore, the event served as a platform to celebrate the achievements and successes of UGM alumni.
