Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), in collaboration with GAOGAO and NTT DOCOMO, successfully hosted the Open Talk & Competition Ideation event titled “The Shape of Web 3.0: Rooted in Our Daily Life.” The event was held at the University Club Hotel UGM on Tuesday (April 30) and featured several experts from the technology industry.
The event was attended by Masano Suzuki, CEO of GAOGAO GATE Inc.; Takuya Tejima, co-founder & CEO of GAOGAO Pte Ltd; Tomoya Hasegawa, Director of Partnerships and Business Development at NTT DOCOMO ASIA Pte Ltd; and Ray Ang, Senior Executive for Partnerships and Business Development at NTT DOCOMO ASIA Pte Ltd.
The main agenda of the event began with an introduction by Tejima, who presented GAOGAO. In his introduction, Tejima explained the GAOGAO Web3 Lab, established in March 2022, with the concept of “Web 2 to Web 3.” Unlike Web 3 native approaches, GAOGAO focuses more on addressing challenges in the Web 2 domain where their strengths can be utilized.
The event continued with a presentation by Masano on Web 3 and Blockchain. Masano explained that blockchain is a public distributed ledger where identical transaction data is distributed and managed by several unspecified nodes. Despite some participants being dishonest or poorly operational, transactions remain fundamentally correct, extremely hard to manipulate, and do not stop. This technology was originally conceived as the core technology of Bitcoin.
In his presentation, Masano Suzuki expressed, “I am very impressed with the enthusiasm of the participants in this Open Talk & Competition. I hope that the global collaboration and partnerships formed during this event will lead us towards better outcomes,” he said.
This event aligns with SDG 17, which focuses on strengthening the means of implementation and revitalizing global partnerships for sustainable development. Through collaboration with GAOGAO, it is hoped that innovation will advance and global partnerships will be strengthened. Additionally, this cooperation could foster agreements in technology and technology transfer to achieve sustainable development goals.
