The Alumni Office of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) is ramping up efforts to promote the importance of tracer studies in enhancing the quality of higher education. This was emphasized during a socialization event attended by various stakeholders, including the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, the Director of Information Technology, and the Head of the UGM Alumni Office.
Dr. Arie Sujito, S.Sos., M.Si., Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Community Service, and Alumni, highlighted the significance of accelerating the measurement of educational impact through tracer studies.
“Our efforts are geared towards continually accelerating the measurement of educational outcomes, teaching quality, and measurable impacts. This is crucial for our study programs, as they are pivotal to the university’s success,” stated Dr. Arie Sujito.
Dr. Sulistyowati, S.S., M.Hum., Head of the UGM Alumni Office, explained that the primary goal of the tracer study is to improve the curriculum, gather information on the competencies needed in the workforce, take inventory of the benefits alumni receive, and build networks with alumni.
“Feedback from tracer studies is also valuable for the overall development of the university,” said Dr. Sulistyowati.
Prof. Dr. Ridi Ferdiana, S.T., M.T., Director of Information Technology at UGM, discussed the significant potential that UGM alumni hold in terms of engagement.
“Alumni are one of the key aspects managed well at UGM. We have considerable potential in terms of engagement with alumni, both in terms of traffic and communication. We will continue to enhance the system’s experience for our alumni,” explained Prof. Ridi Ferdiana.
During the same event, Dr. Sulistyowati also detailed the mechanism for alumni to complete the tracer study. Alumni can access a special link provided by the UGM Alumni Office to fill out the tracer study questionnaire online. The collected data will be analyzed and used for learning systems improvement and university development.
The event was also attended by study program managers and tracer study enumerators, underscoring UGM’s commitment to improving educational quality through comprehensive alumni data.
