UNIQLO, the Japanese fashion brand under the Fast Retailing group, conducted a campus hiring event at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Tuesday (28/5). Company management attended the event, including the HR Director, Store Development Director, and several Managers. The goal was to introduce the UMC Program to fresh graduates and attract top candidates from various universities.
The UMC hiring event took place on the 1st floor of Grha Sabha Pramana. It was attended by over 350 participants from prominent universities such as UGM, UNDIP, UB, ITB, and Universitas Atmajaya. The event began with a company profile presentation by UNIQLO’s Store Development Director, Pierre Louis Alexandra (Alex). Alex discussed UNIQLO’s growth as one of the largest fashion brands in the world while aligning with its three core pillars of Sustainability: People, Planet, and Society.
The next session featured an overview of the UMC Program presented by Mahyudanil Lubis (Yuda), the HR Director. Yuda explained that the program targets fresh graduates and those with less than two years of work experience. In addition to offering attractive benefits, the program provides global exposure and a fast track to leadership roles.
“The UMC program aims high. You should succeed in Indonesia and internationally,” said Yuda.
In addition to the company profile and UMC program overview, the event included a talk show titled “Meet Our UMC,” featuring Iana Tushshoimah (Store Manager at UNIQLO Pakuwon Mall Jogja), Annisa Riri Indriyani (Area Manager in Surabaya), and Fujikura Yumi (Manager at Fast Retailing Management & Innovation Centre). During this session, speakers shared their experiences with the UMC program and their career paths at UNIQLO. Participants also received tips and insights on how to navigate the UMC selection process and the career opportunities available through the program.
“All of these programs might seem challenging, but they are worth it. The key is to be resilient and adaptable. Good luck!” advised Iana.
The event concluded with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD), a stage in UNIQLO’s recruitment process aimed at assessing participants’ problem-solving abilities, communication skills, and teamwork.
By holding this campus hiring event at UGM, UNIQLO hopes to recruit talented, competent young professionals who will positively contribute to the development of the fashion industry in Indonesia. Additionally, this event contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. This initiative supports the creation of productive and inclusive job opportunities, aligning with UNIQLO’s commitment to fostering a diverse workforce and promoting sustainable economic development in Indonesia. Through these efforts, UNIQLO and UGM are helping to build a more equitable and thriving job market, directly impacting the global goals for sustainable development.
