The rapid digital transformation is bringing significant changes to various aspects of life. However, amidst this technological advancement, we must not forget vulnerable groups, such as people with disabilities. To ensure an inclusive digital transformation, we need dedicated individuals who fight for the rights of people with disabilities. One such person is Mukhanif Yasin Yusup.
Mukhanif Yasin Yusup, an alumnus of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), has dedicated himself to advocating for digital inclusion for people with disabilities. As an expert in Data Analysis and Policy, with a focus on Gender, Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI), Mukhanif deeply understands the challenges faced by people with disabilities in accessing the digital sector.
To achieve an inclusive digital transformation, Mukhanif established Difapedia, an organization dedicated to disability issues. Through Difapedia, Mukhanif aims to equip people with disabilities with the necessary digital skills and access. The goal here is not just to brand themselves or advocate for themselves, but also to enhance their social and economic well-being.
One of Mukhanif’s initiatives includes hosting the workshop “Inclusive Digital Transformation: Empowering People with Disabilities in the Digital Era” at Hall UNU Yogyakarta on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Mukhanif emphasized the significance of people with disabilities participating actively in digital transformation during the event. He acknowledged that many people with disabilities still face barriers in accessing available digital services, which needs urgent attention.
In addition to Difapedia, Mukhanif participates in various disability advocacy activities, such as securing access to the Family Hope Program (PKH) for people with disabilities and participating in the Musrenbang in Purbalingga Regency. He also collaborates with various organizations, including the Telkom Institute of Technology Purwokerto, to foster an inclusive culture in the digital sector.
Mukhanif Yasin Yusup’s commitment and efforts serve as an inspiration to many, especially to people with disabilities. Through his work, Mukhanif demonstrates that an inclusive digital transformation is achievable, and people with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate and contribute in the ever-evolving digital era. Figures like Mukhanif set an example for us all to continue striving for a fairer and more equitable society for everyone.
Mukhanif Yasin Yusup’s work in promoting digital inclusion for people with disabilities directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities and Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. By addressing the digital divide and ensuring equitable access to technology, Mukhanif contributes to creating a more inclusive society where all individuals, regardless of their abilities, can fully participate in and benefit from digital advancements. His efforts exemplify how targeted advocacy and innovation can advance global development goals, fostering equality and justice in the digital era.
