Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) held the “Toyota Astra Motor Goes to Campus” event at the Prof. Roosseno Auditorium, Smart Green Learning Center Building, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) on Friday (7/6). The event aimed to introduce Toyota’s technology focused on achieving carbon neutrality.
The event was attended by Arief Setiawan Budi Nugroho, S.T., M.Eng., Ph.D., Vice Rector for Planning, Assets, and Information Systems at UGM; Prof. Ir. Selo, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UGM; Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Marketing Director of Toyota Astra Motor; Olan Situmorang, Human Resources Development Manager; and Dimas Aska, xEV Manager at Toyota Astra Motor.
“This event is part of the collaboration between UGM and Toyota Astra Motor. We hope it provides insights into Toyota and opens career opportunities in the automotive industry, especially with Toyota,” Arief stated in his opening remarks.
Olan Situmorang, Human Resources Development Manager at Toyota Astra Motor, explained how Toyota makes it easier for society to meet business needs through continuous improvement and the implementation of respect for others in good corporate governance.
Dimas Aska, xEV Manager at Toyota Astra Motor, presented the development of eco-friendly vehicle technology developed by Toyota, such as electrification technology (EV) and its components.
Meanwhile, Anton Jimmi Suwandy, Marketing Director at Toyota Astra Motor, shared his career journey, starting as a fresh graduate, and discussed the evolution of Toyota’s technology, particularly hybrid vehicle technology as a transition towards electric vehicles to reduce carbon emissions. He emphasized the importance of having a vision and goals for students, as well as contributing to carbon emission reduction efforts.
The event also featured a recruitment booth and the “Magang Merdeka” program provided by Toyota Astra Motor, offering opportunities for students and alumni to develop careers in the automotive industry.
The Toyota Astra Motor Goes to Campus event is expected to further strengthen the collaboration between industry and academia, preparing excellent human resources ready to contribute to the future, particularly in achieving environmental sustainability through eco-friendly technology. The goal is to produce superior and high-quality human resources and provide them with decent and stable job opportunities. Therefore, the role of higher education institutions is crucial in supporting this effort.
