Yayasan Kinarya Anak Bangsa, a non-profit organization led by KAGAMA Banten member Rosita Yuwanasari Suwardi Wibawa, has been recommended as a Special Consultative Member of the United Nations (UN). This recognition comes as a result of their initiatives to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the Nandur Tuk Banyu or “Planting Water Springs” program since 2018.
Rosita, representing Kinarya Anak Bangsa, explained that the Nandur Tuk Banyu program focuses on water conservation by educating local communities on the importance of preserving water resources. Additionally, they promote sustainable water use practices and involve communities in water conservation efforts through campaigns to maintain springs, plant water-retaining trees, and manage rainwater.
The UN’s recognition of the Nandur Tuk Banyu program was awarded to Kinarya Anak Bangsa during the 2023 Water Forum Conference in New York, USA. Rosita shared her experiences with international delegates and built support to strengthen concrete actions for sustainable water management.
“Although Indonesia has abundant water resources, population growth, industrialization, and climate change are leading to the depletion and scarcity of water resources. Therefore, water conservation and the provision of healthy drinking water have become our focus,” said Rosita.
The UN’s recognition of Kinarya Anak Bangsa aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6, which ensures the availability and sustainable management of clean water and sanitation for all. Additionally, this program also supports SDG 9, related to water innovation and infrastructure.
