Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) was one of 18 universities visited by the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) as part of the “Kemenkes Goes to Campus” program. The event was held on the first floor of Grha Sabha Pramana UGM on Friday (19/7). It was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing UGM, as well as the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health.
In his speech, Prof. Dr. Yodi Mahendradhata, M.Sc., Ph.D., FRSPH, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing UGM, expressed his hope for UGM’s generation to continue contributing to improving the quality of life for society.
“As an institution, UGM is not only knowledgeable but also possesses integrity, dedication, and the spirit to contribute to the nation. Health is a key pillar for Indonesia Emas 2045 and cannot be achieved without great and dedicated talent. UGM is the future hope of the nation,” said Prof. Yodi.
Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Mr. Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha, added that UGM talent should become agents of change in advancing the health system from a focus on treatment to prevention and health promotion, as well as improving a high-quality health system.
“Join Kemenkes to become agents of change in advancing the health system from a focus on treatment to prevention and health promotion, and improving a quality and affordable health system. I am confident that UGM talents are capable of continuing this vision,” emphasized Kunta.
The event continued with a talk show featuring five speakers who are also UGM alumni, including Prof. Dr. Laksono Trisnantoro, M.Sc., Ph.D., Indah Febrianti, Indri Yogyaswari, Anik Sri Handayani, and Sekar Tyas Hutami. They shared their experiences and insights on career opportunities at Kemenkes. The speakers conveyed that young people at Kemenkes have the chance to become leaders as long as they are competent. Contributions from various disciplines, if carried out excellently, will impact the advancement of health.
The “Kemenkes Goes to Campus” program at UGM is aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 – encouraging healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages – and SDG 4 – educating people. Through collaboration between universities and the health sector, it is hoped that the best talents will emerge to advance Indonesia’s health system.
