The Alumni Office of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a Career Preparation Class (CPC) with the theme “Crafting the Perfect CV and Portfolio: Essential Soft-Skills for Career Success” to support the career development of graduates. The event was attended by Windha Larasanti, People & Operations Manager from Qiscus, one of Indonesia’s customer engagement platforms.
This CPC was held at the Multimedia Room 1, 3rd Floor, UGM Central Building, and was attended by more than 60 participants from undergraduate and graduate students and alumni of UGM. Windha shared insights and tips on creating a good CV and resume, as well as the importance of soft skills in the workplace. She explained that the key components in a CV include personal information, profile summary, work experience, education, skills, and certifications.
“A good CV creates the first impression for employers and acts as a bridge to a successful job interview,” said Windha Larasanti.
Additionally, portfolios were discussed during the event. A portfolio functions to showcase skills and completed projects, serving as a visual representation of one’s work.
“One company, one CV will increase the success rate of getting accepted. Use the right keywords and include achievements,” added Windha.
Not only CVs and interviews, but soft skills are also important for surviving in the workplace. Verbal and nonverbal communication skills, active listening, teamwork and collaboration, time management, problem-solving, decision-making, adaptability, and leadership are essential skills needed.
This Career Preparation Class aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 on Quality Education and SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth. By organizing the Career Preparation Class “Crafting the Perfect CV and Portfolio: Essential Soft-Skills for Career Success,” the UGM Alumni Office contributes to preparing outstanding and competitive graduates, enabling them to obtain decent and productive employment. This effort is expected to support the development of quality human resources and increase opportunities for young people to get jobs that match their competencies.
