In support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the North Sumatra Regional Executive Board (Pengda) of Universitas Gadjah Mada  Alumni Association (KAGAMA) visited the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Community Service Program (KKN) students in Samosir Regency, North Sumatra, on Sunday (August 4).

RM Mulianta Sitepu, Chairman of KAGAMA North Sumatra, who led the delegation, emphasized the importance of preserving local wisdom.

“Above all, we must not forget our local culture,” he asserted.

KAGAMA North Sumatra observed that the KKN programs, which are divided into four sectors – social humanities, science & technology, medicine, and agriculture – have been running well. These programs align with several SDG targets, such as poverty alleviation, quality education, good health, and sustainable natural resource management.

The Chairman of KAGAMA Samosir, who is also the Head of the Samosir Regency Forestry and Agriculture Department, Dr. Tumiur Br. Gultom, SP, MP, warmly welcomed the KKN students.

“The KKN work programs should be practical and beneficial for the community, and they should be in sync with local government initiatives,” he advised.

Through this visit, KAGAMA North Sumatra and UGM’s KKN PPM demonstrated their commitment to realizing self-reliant and sustainable villages in Samosir Regency, in line with the spirit of achieving the SDGs in Indonesia.
