The Regional Management Board (Pengda) of KAGAMA North Sumatra paid a visit on Saturday, August 3rd, to KKN PPM UGM students who are currently implementing their work programs in Pardomuan and Ulu Merah Villages, located in Sitellu Tali Urang Julu Subdistrict, Pakpak Bharat Regency, North Sumatra.
According to Kagama.id, the visit was led by the Chairman of Pengda KAGAMA North Sumatra, RM Mulianta Sitepu. Mulianta emphasized that the KKN activities should leave behind a living monument that benefits the local community and government.
“I am impressed with what these KKN students have accomplished. Their ideas are truly innovative,” praised Mulianta.
The Chairman of Pengcab KAGAMA Dairi – Pakpak Bharat, who is also the Acting Head of Bappelitbangda of Pakpak Bharat Regency, Harryson F. Sirumapea, advised the KKN students to give their best and be fully committed to executing all of their work programs.
“You all are the nation’s future hope, soon you will replace us as we (the elders) are growing older,” said Harryson.
The work programs carried out by the KKN participants include batik-making using eco-print technology, utilizing used PVC pipes for vertical blocks, creating a climbing map for Delleng Simpon, developing a village website, conducting socialization on mineral blocks for livestock, cultivating gama umami grass, providing rabies vaccinations for animals, collaborating with BI to create a demonstration plot for local red chili, and documenting local artifacts (mejan).
Through this visit, the Regional Management Board (Pengda) of KAGAMA North Sumatra demonstrated its support for the efforts of KKN students in supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Pakpak Bharat Regency. Several of the work programs conducted are related to several SDGs, including SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
With the commitment and innovation shown by the KKN students, it is hoped that these programs will have a lasting positive impact on the local community and regional government in realizing development that aligns with Sustainable Development Goals.
