PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) I has just been awarded the ‘Most Improvement in Leadership Transformation of Indonesia: Best Companies in Creating Leaders from Within 2017’ held by Indonesian Leadership and Human Capital Summit (ILHC) 2017, in Jakarta (15/11). The awards are given to companies in Indonesia who are considered successful in organizing Leadership Development program in their internal organization.
Behind the achievements of Pelindo I, there is an important role of one of UGM alumni behind it. He is M. Hamied Wijaya, an alumnus of the class of 1987 Psychology, who now serves as Director of Human Resources and General Affairs.
Since inaugurated in May 2014, Hamied’s work in leading the organization’s governance in Pelindo I has always been highly appreciated because it is considered to have fulfilled the company’s target. The success is also a proof of his commitment in guarding the transformation journey and human resource management in Pelindo I. However, he also said that the award obtained by Pelindo I came with the support of various parties that helped succeed the vision and mission of the company.
“Of course we do not walk alone, the achievements of this company also exist because of the result of cooperation and support of the employees in Pelindo I and other parties,” he said after receiving the award at Ballroom C, Hotel Shangrila, Jakarta.
This award-winning performance doesn’t make Hamied quick to be complacent. Because according to him, Pelindo I still have to prepare the steps and strategies to find potential candidates for corporate leaders. He believes that qualified human resources will also boost the company’s performance and productivity for the better.
“Our focus is still on system automation and employee development, we will keep doing those to create qualified employees for the company,” added Hamied. [Eggy]
