Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) through the Sub Directorate of Alumni Relations UGM in collaboration with the Yogyakarta Special Region Police (POLDA DIY) held Proactive Recruitment Information Session for Polri Officer from Bachelor’s Degree held on Friday (13/9).

The event, which was held in Multimedia Room 1, UGM Central Building, 3rd floor, presented at least about 15 students from the Department of Nuclear and Physics Engineering. As for the activity, it presented the Chief Commissioner (Kombes) Edy Murbowo who was in charge of Indonesian National Police (POLRI) in the Human Resource Planning field.

Edy said that this activity was held in synergy between Indonesian National Police Headquarters (POLRI Headquarters) and POLDA DIY as the executor of regional level selection. The recruitment of POLRI members is carried out annually and aims to regenerate and increase members of the POLRI unit.

“The recruitment of police force members consists of various levels and channels. One of them is the Police Inspector School of Bachelor’s Degree or referred to SIPSS. Recruitment through the SIPSS pathway is a bachelor’s degree and after passing, it will take 6 months of training, “Edy said.

The 6-month training is aimed at internalizing and instilling police doctrines, also introducing and familiarizing prospective officers with police duties. After being considered qualified to become a member of the National Police, as an officer will proceed with the position’s placement according to the science field.

Student’s quota for selection with the SIPSS pathway each year is only 75 people. Before recruiting, an analysis of positions is held within the Indonesian National Police to review the required study programs. Some work unit areas that require the majority of officers with a bachelor’s background include the Medical and Health Center (Pusdokkes), Research and Development Center (Puslitbang), Forensic Laboratory Center (Puslabfor), and the Indonesian Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Pusinafis) Center. Puslabfor is a part that always requires a lot of members so that in recruitment there will be a lot of networking related to the study programs needed.

POLRI works closely with Kemenrisetdikti to recruit several universities that provide the study programs needed so that not all universities can channel their students to become part of POLRI members. UGM is one of the universities that provide courses needed by the Indonesian National Police such as Nuclear Engineering.

The recruitment process begins with data collection and also administrative fulfillment that must be fulfilled, including information on scientific fields to be filtered. After that, a health check is conducted for those who pass the file selection. Then proceed with psychological tests to see the mental health of participants. Academic tests are not carried out in the SIPSS path but are replaced by competency tests. Physical health tests are also one part of the test series to see the fitness level of prospective members. The total value of the many tests will be added up and checked again by the Indonesian National Police and those who pass will become talents. After that, talent will take the test along with other entry points.

Talent candidates who have the best result have can possibly get a special license from the leader to be directly appointed as a member of the National Police.

After the presentation related to recruitment, the activity continued with question and answer by the participants. Participants put great interest in the recruitment process organized by UGM and the Indonesian Police Headquarters in cooperation with DIY Regional Police. The enthusiasm of the participants was evident from a lot of detailed questions asked. After the question and answer session, the activity ended with a photo session with the speakers and participants of the socialization.
