KAGAMA had played great attention to the on-going crisis which strikes the world, including Indonesia. A series of aid program schemes were implemented to alleviate the affected communities, mainly their economy.
In his welcoming speech at KAGAMA 2020 National Working Meeting, Ganjar Pranowo, the Chairman of PP KAGAMA appreciated KAGAMA contribution to handling the current situation. This event was held on Saturday (12/12) and attended by more than 400 KAGAMA boards from within and outside the country.
Ganjar stated that KAGAMA, who works in government, is expected to solve the economic, social, and national relations problems that we are facing. Ganjar invites all KAGAMAs to provide good narratives, bridge, and communicate well to give the best solutions.
He added that this National Working meeting was also a forum to evaluate and directly contribute to the nation and state to build KAGAMA momentum to be independent through creative ways.
As an alumnus who serves society, Ganjar said that KAGAMA must always uphold its integrity.
“KAGAMA can be an initiator to improve the governance performance: to decrease the corruption number, to increase the integrity, and to accelerate the development toward excellence and character human resource, which can be initiated by the government, university, and the media in a pentahelix way,” he said.
Despite their low-profile character, UGM alumni have high competence and a good communicator. Therefore, KAGAMA is welcome by the society. Moreover, KAGAMA contributes a lot to the welfare of the Indonesian nation.
Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., IPU., ASEAN Eng., UGM Rector and Chair of the Advisory Council, said that KAGAMA must always prioritize UGM core values and Indonesian values, also uphold UGM’s identity as a a pillar of educational awakening in Indonesia, and a defender and disseminator of Pancasila.
“I hope that KAGAMA will always care about the UGM alma mater as the crater of the candradimuka for future generations, future leaders in their respective fields,” he said.
Prof. Panut also said that KAGAMA would pay great attention to people. Wherever KAGAMA is, KAGAMA would always work together, hand in hand, complement each other and contribute to improving this country toward a prosperous and excellent nation.
Despite being in the middle of the pandemic, Prof. Panut viewed that this pandemic strengthens Indonesian’s true character, as seen from empathy, solidarity, and cooperation regardless of ethnicity, religion, and class. This kind of social foundation is expected to continue to grow among KAGAMA and spread throughout Indonesian society.
